This Wednesday Colonel Light Gardens Primay School will be celebrating Japanese culture with Japan Day. In the morning from 9-10 we will be entertained by a traditional Japanese comedy performance by some guest performers in the Hall. After that our class will rotate amongst the other classrooms in Upper Mortlock to take part in 4 different workshop activities. For lunch some students have ordered Sushi from the canteen. After lunch it is back to our usual Wednesday lessons.
It should be a great day. To help add to the atmosphere of the day students may dress up in Japan-related costumes, clothing or accessories

Well done to all the students who have had the opportunity to talk through their learning with their parents last week.
It was great to see each student reflect on the term, look at themselves as expert learners, and show you some work they are proud of. Thank you to all of the parents for listening and talking with your child about their learning and also adding to our parent pride poster. Students have loved reading and sharing these comments with their friends.
Once again if you havent had the chance to come in yet I am happy to make a time this week

Last week we did some more exploring of fractions to build their understanding that fractions are equal parts of a whole. Those wholes can be shapes ( eg circles and rectangles), but also numbers.
Students were given a card with a number (some whole numbers, some fractions, some mixed numbers) and asked to see if they could work together as a large group to place themselves in order from 0-5. They worked quickly and successfully as a group. Once they agreed every one was in the correct position i filmed them.
Hi

If you didnt make a booking because those times or days didn’t suit, let me know and i am happy to try and find an alternative before the end of term

Hi families,
I just wanted to say… Wow! Room 17 did such a great job of running the Year 3-7 assembly today. We worked hard planning and rehearsing and they had lots of creative ideas on the Expert Learner Quality of being OPEN-MINDED. Their skits were entertaining and funny and they spoke confidently. Well Done everyone.
Mrs Matthews 🙂
