Marble Run

0

Posted by kristagill | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on August 27, 2017

Last week for Team Work Tuesday students worked in teams to construct a Marble Run. Their task was to use recycled materials, masking tape and their table top, tipped upright, to keep a marble continuously moving for the longest time possible.

Building a marble run is a fun hands-on science activity and a great way to get students involved in an exciting engineering challenge—one that has clear and immediate results. Will the marble make it from top to bottom? How long of a run can you build? What design modifications might decrease/increase the marble’s speed?

Students explored construction challenges, design issues, principles of physics, and engineering problems while creating their marble run, they also  put the design process into action. They think creatively. They innovate. They prototype, test, and then make changes. And they have fun.

They have gone to Japanese now but Some are hoping the rain continues at recess so they can come back and have more time to finish😀 Stay tuned tonight for some more photos and hopefully videos.
